Ways to Connect with HLS Students

OCS is offering virtual employer chats, Cambridge area receptions*, and a virtual Employer Resource Library as ways for employers to connect with HLS students in the spring 2022 semester.

*Presently, Harvard policy prohibits visitors on campus. While HLS does not have policies regarding off-campus activity in the Cambridge area, our primary goal is to keep Covid transmission to a minimum so that classes continue in-person, and the Harvard community remains healthy. If you do decide to come to the Cambridge area, please review state and local advisories. Restaurants in the area are each handling the public health situation differently and it is best to check with any space you intend to visit to find out their policies.

Intro cont.

Virtual chats and in-person receptions begin February 14 and run through the end of classes in April.

Employers must receive OCS approval for Harvard only virtual chats and in-person receptions to ensure that the event will not conflict with other virtual chats, receptions, or other events that could impact attendance. In order to enhance student attendance at each event, no more than two employer receptions/virtual chats will be scheduled on the same evening. OCS reserves the right to decline a request for a second event if it is likely to significantly impact attendance

Virtual Chats

Virtual chats may be hosted during lunchtime, from 12:30 – 1:30pm ET or in the evenings (suggested start time 5pm ET or later).

The suggested format of a chat is  a 45-minute – 1-hour session that begins with a 15-minute overview of the firm followed by two 15 or 20- minute breakout sessions by geographic market where students are able to choose which breakout session(s) to attend. Employers may use their own video platform to host the chat session or request that OCS set up a zoom session and turn over hosting to a firm representative 15 minutes prior to the start of the chat.

In-person Receptions

Receptions can be in the form of an event at a restaurant, a bowling night at a bowling alley, a short film viewing at a local theater or even a gourmet coffee tasting.  Harvard Square and the surrounding areas offer a range of quality restaurants and venues from which to choose when hosting an off-campus event.

For venue ideas, please see https://www.harvardsquare.com/

Written or Video Materials

Firms may submit any written or video marketing materials to be uploaded to the Symplicity Employer Resource Library for students. We will accept materials on a rolling basis and upload to Symplicity at any time during the spring semester. To submit materials, please email them to recruiting@law.harvard.edu. *Please note that materials submitted in the spring and summer of 2021 have expired and have been removed from the library.

Publicity

Publicity

OCS will publicize chats, receptions and materials submitted to the Employer Resource Library. Publicity will consist of the following:

  • A listing in Symplicity where students RSVP for events (for chats and receptions)
  • A listing on the OCS events and the university calendar (for chats and receptions)
  • Weekly posts on the OCS blog for students (for chats, receptions and resource library materials)
